  • Help with sound on acceleration

I have recently had some focal speakers, sub and amp put into my car (leaving the RNS510 head unit in) but now I have a strange issue.. On acceleration, and louder the more the engine revs, I have a kind of high pitch noise coming through the tweeters.

Even if I turn off the car stereo (amp is obviously still on) it happens..

    Anyone know what causes this?

Ground loop noise, caused by interference on the -ve loop of the car.
When you say had it installed, did you install it or did you pay someone to do it?

Wouldn't have anything to do with the soundakator? (fake engine noise that comes through the speakers on the GTI and R).
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

No that's a completely separate unit to the stereo.

Like 99_FGT said it's a ground loop. I'm guessing the amp hasn't been grounded well enough. Twisted pair cables between the headunit and the amp are a big help too.

Yeah paid a decent amount for a car audio installation shop in melbourne to do it, they have been in business in the same name for 20 years (with good feedback on forums) so thought I wouldn't have issues (other than being a bit pricey).. Was a few problems though, crackling in amped front tweeters, ground loop noise, minor damaged plastic, poorly re-fitted door trims causing lots of vibration in trim especially in the rear.

They have apologised admiting they rushed the job and asked me to bring it back next week.. just wanted to know what it was but yeah using better cable and checking grounding has been the common suggestions..
