Thanks. Do you know what the diagnostic showed? And how they ended up fixing it?

So this morning driving to work it was displaying the same symptoms as I described this morning.

But then this afternoon driving home from work it's now starting just trying to connect to my iPhone but never succeeds. I tried turning off my bluetooth on my phone and turning back on, no change. Tried restarting the iphone no change. Turned bluetooth off my phone and it still keeps trying to connect to my phone. The Phone menu is just stuck on the searching for phone bit, no way for me to delete the pairing etc... Even just now I tried taking my wifes iPhone out (that is paired as well) and it still tried to connect to mine and wouldn't find hers. Something really not right with the bluetooth module/software in the golf. Friend has a vagcom cable so I'll try a scan to see if any error codes showing up.

Bluetooth OBD II port dongle query

      Hey All,

Can't seem to pair my newly purchased bluetooth OBD II dongle with my phone (for Torque Pro application). The red light comes on, indicating power, but when searching for nearby devices, my phone can't find it...

Is there something else i have to do, or did i perhaps just get a dodgy one?

      Thanks!

Thru MDI, on 4 not working with 4-5 adaptor but, ok as with phone calls ie all speakers working. Any ideas from anyone ?

Are you sure phone calls via BT sound fine through all speakers? If it isn't there may be an issue with the Green phone plug at the back of your headunit (Left input may be loose) or the connector for your BT module.

Thanks mate, yeah as far as I can tell works all good with phone calls.

Removed the head unit yesterday and checked all connections again, all seems where it should be.
            Green phone plug ?
Only have main wiring loom, and other stuff for sat nav camera.......
Will prob end up just using MDi but would be nice if it all worked though.
Townsville guy is at a loss as well. Apart from suggesting an older type BT module may work but would lose some functions.
            Which ones not sure !

Hi everyone. I have a weird fault that has developed recently with my Bluetooth phone connection. I had an iPhone 4 IOS 5.??? and it all worked as it was supposed to. I upgraded my phone to an iPhone 4S and also upgraded my OS to OS6.0.1. Now the phone does not always ring through the car phone system (2011 GolfR RNS 510) and does not ring in the phone either so I miss calls. I also note that the remote control for the phone media player does not always work (Bluetooth streaming).

I have read many forums and there are discussions re IOS 6.0.1 using Bluetooth 4. Perhaps the Golf has Bluetooth 3? I have tried resetting the phone. I tried re-pairing the phone. It seems to work briefly then it drops the link but appears connected as per normal. I have read that BT4 goes to low power mode after about 10-15mins. Perhaps this is related to the problem.

I have the car booked in to a VW service centre for them to dig deeper. I am at a loss. Is it Apple of VW at fault?

It is dangerous to hear the phone vibrate with an incoming call and look down to see what is happening. It should ring through the car system as it used to. I have run out of ideas re fixing this issue. I hope VW Aust. have a solution.

Ok so interestingly a few days after this my car battery died/drained overnight. Down to ~4volts. Jump started it, went for a drive and ever since then my bluetooth has been working perfectly. Very weird, makes me think the bluetooth module drained the battery but then by losing power it force it to reset and now it's fine?!?

Re my BT problem with random disconnection. Dealer replaced the BT module with the latest version. So far so good.

Did that take a lot of convincing or payment on your part? I assume your BT was factory fitted and dealers wouldn't be interested in helping out those of us who did a DIY retrofit. Good to hear there's a solution at least.

Maybe I can try to sell my BT unit to an iPhone owner and put the funds toward a slightly newer revision.

Anyone who's used both the Kufatec 36495 (non premium version) and 730D (9W2) systems care to compare them? Particularly with a red screen MFD (I also have an RCD310 at present, pending battery drain issues, if they show themselves I'll go back to the RCD500).

The VW system needs coding and seems to be fairly limited in operation whereas the the Kufatec option does not need coding and seems to present more features...

But in saying that i'm fairly happy with just answering calls. I don't generally make calls while driving so accessing the phone book isn't a major thing for me (plus if i am honest my contacts are all over the place and need a serious cleanup). But I wonder if one has better sound quality for bluetooth audio streaming than the other?

                        Hello all,

I just received a 9W7 Bluetooth unit (7P6 035 730L) and am looking for some direction as to how to install the unit in the factory position of under the passenger seat. The car is a MY2010 Passat CC, if that makes any difference.

I have removed the RNS-510 as well as the Climatronic controls but there is a small black box doodad (not sure what exactly, but I suspect something to do with adaptive cruise control as there is a sticker with ACC-something on it) already installed behind the climate controls. Unfortunately, that means the Bluetooth unit doesn't fit in the spot that all the guides point to. Just wiring up the harness to the RNS-510 while out of the dash shows the unit works as would be expected without VCDS coding being done yet.

Looking around on the Internet, I've only managed to find guides showing how to do a clean/retrofit install behind the Climatronic unit or to do an upgrade from an earlier under-seat factory fitted version, but no new installations under the seat.

The bit I'm most unsure about is how to route the wiring from the RNS-510 to the seat, and am a bit leery of randomly removing bits of trim in a new car to find out myself.

Thanks in advance for any assistance received.

                          Collection of guides here:

The MK6 camera install guide shows a few pics with trim removed, but it's a simple yank to get most stuff off.
Or if you're still apprehensive you could cheat and run the cable under the floor mat

Thank you, Ryan. The Golf RVC install guide seems to show the area in question and it doesn't look that hard. Might have a go tomorrow.

                                Howdy.

Does anyone know how to, or if its possible, to get the phone menu button to work on the RNS510? I had the dealer fit a Bluetooth for me (they put in a VW one, but I'm not sure what version). I can use the phone button on the steering wheel to answer and end calls. The phone menu button just mutes the radio.

                                Cheers.
