  • Upgrading Head Unit - Implications

    Hi All,

There is a good chance this belongs in the in-car entertainment section but I wanted answers specific to my car - it being a Scirocco.

Has anyone swapped out the head unit in the car? If so what model did you choose? What were the implications in terms of MDI, MFD, Steering Wheel Controls, Bluetooth including microphone...and anything else I haven't thought of? DId you lose any or all of the factory functions?

I would like to add something a bit more capable up front, have already done the amp/speakers.

    Thanks all

Nothing really special about the Scirroco in that dep't, you'd be better off in the Audio section.

Have you read the thread about the ANS and the one about other alternatives (you should find those who've switched to something else report on any loss of features). A lot of those a/m HU's have bluetooth built in with their own microphone cable you run as well. If you mention what units or capabilities you're interested in you might get better feedback too.
