  • Mk6 GTI Bluetooth with Iphone

    hey guys
i have the standard VW Bluetooth kit fitted to my RCD510, only the volume and mute work. Does anyones next track etc work when streaming audio via bluetooth???? or is that it , purley stream music no function ability back to the iPhone from the steering wheel. e.g. i need to use the next track on my iPhone to change songs, not the steering wheel.

This has been discussed at length - and it appears that you need a newer Bluetooth (not sure which exactly - have a read of the Bluetooth thread) to get that functionality.
Disappointing we know, but unless VW told you it had that function (AVRCP) rather than music streaming (A2DP) specifically, you are out of luck.
Is not a hard upgrade - from memory swap the box out and that should work.

Part number starting with 7P6 can't skip audio tracks via A2DP, you'd need the newer one with Part number 5K0...

The revision letter at the end is the most important factor, the code at the start only suggests which vehicle it has been initially designed for (5K is the code for the MK6 Golf and 7P the Touareg).

For instance my Polo came with the 5K0-035-730-F unit which has AVRCP. The E unit has it too, but earlier versions like A and B wouldn't.

Any who, your best bet would be a 5K0-035-730-E or 5K0-035-730-F unit. Carsystems sell a full retrofit, but you only need the box since it's already been wired up. The box they sell by itself isn't a AVRCP unit.

This is not correct. I have just installed a 7P6035730J (connected to the RNS510) and it skips tracks via the MFSW buttons when streaming iPhone audio via bluetooth. It also shows full track info. I did read somewhere that it does not do it, but it does. Maybe this function has been added in the 'J' version.

Good to know. Not sure if there were any J versions when I upgraded.
