New firmware for MDI (Media Input Device)

There appears to be new software for the media input - the IPod connection

Has anybody tried installing this - and if so what has it changed?

I can't see a changelog for the software.

someone do it with a factory delivered MDI, then ill try it as mine came from OS and sending it back would be a PITA. not to mention i wouldnt have ipod happiness in my car. id have to resort to radio and thats really not a good thing for all the sydney drivers

Is this a new version of a MDI firmware upgrade that's been kicking around for over a year or so now? Can anyone confirm this?

The date on PDF docs is 23/12/2010 so I'm thinking not...?

Looks like an old update. I updated my software last year in July I think it was, I still have that update on my pc somewhere....

I think it is new. I have been keeping an eye on this website. Until recently it had a name like 22wk/2011.

Didn't work on MY 11

Same version as the one already loaded on my 05/12 Polo (v240). It looks like it's just the 2011 one but the PDF seems to suggest an all new MDI is out (running version v500+), perhaps it's for the mk7/mbq VAG cars?

I should have read the PDFs more closely. It does suggest it is new

"This product information is valid as of MEDIA-IN software version 0530 / 0546 (market launch CW 22/2012)."

and

• This compatibility list is explicitly valid for the above mentioned software state 0530 / 0546 of MEDIA IN ex works.
• In possession of a previous SW state of MEDIA IN (e.g. car from production before week 21/2012 or within a retrofitting by Volkswagen accessories), an update of the software is possible only up to the state of 0240.
• An update of your existing MEDIA IN system to the software version 0530 is technically not possible.
• For more information about possible updates, please visit the download section of the official Volkswagen websites.
• Information about the compatibility of the software version 0240 you will receive via your Volkswagen customer service.

readerrOr - looks like your 05/12 Polo had this loaded in the factory - my car is 15 months old so I will give it a go... with the hope that it fixes a couple of niggles.
