  • I have yet to load the M140 update. I'm hoping Sandy can chime in on the questions/observations that have been posted to date. I have a feeling he is working hard on the DNS issues and might not get to this forum as much as he has in the past.

Hopefullly, the OBD function does improve. Perhaps this is a common piece of programming between the ANS and DNS units and we will benefit from development on the DNS side.

    Paul.

      Paul,

Ive been running the 140 for a few days now and it does seem a lot better to me, faster and more responsive than before..

The OBD is turned off by default and I had to go to the aux menu and turn it on... but it never connects so think this will need more development yet.. as for the other car info display, some bits work, others not... hopefully they will sort this too...

also noticed you can now turn video in motion on and off and it displays a message saying video is not allowed on the move, so i turned it off!!!

other than that is def an improvement over old..

      • You will need to go to the 3rd menu available thru aux in. Press and hold 1/2 way up the left side for the extra menu. You can scroll this menu down for more options. I think the obd requires an add on piece of hardware. The "very" latest ANS units may have it incorporated after my chat to Audiosources yesterday.

        • Hi I just bought a Mk6 with this headunit. I initially thought it was a rns-510. . The buttons sort of look like an ANS-510 in regards to NAVI but otherwise it looks different.
          Can anybody identify it?

            • There are some features that Audiosources might want to think about.

One is the radio interface. It is very cumbersome to switch a radio band. First you pick Band, then AM or FM. There's only one AM group, but 3 FM groups, so you have to cycle through them all to come back. The number of groups are fixed, so why not just have AM, FM1, FM2, FM3 buttons on the screen all the time, or after picking Band in the beginning?

              • Anything new happening in this forum? Appreciate the M140 updates has been out but still wonder if audiosources will continue to update the older units as mentioned way back in this thread.. would love to see a fully functioning car info display, and obd.. also how about scrolling the screen text for what song you are listening to?

You need an VCDS cable or a friendly dealer.

                    • Or a cheap ELM327 bluetooth scanner off ebay and Android Toque on a phone.. i use this all the time for scanning on the go... can quite easily clear codes too... although some are hidden deeper than this scanner will see.. so you take a chance on buying it.. ive done ok so far with it though

                      • These are the errors that strip with the ANS 510! In my MK5

                          • Your second screenshot is showing no CAN-Bus errors. I don't recall if the CAN-Bus one is normal but the radio one is - you cannot clear that one. This is the case if you install anything other than OEM radio. Apparently Audiosources had a solution for the mk6 Golf that will eliminate fault codes but it broke compatibility with the mk5s so right now there isn't anything that can be done.

Regarding OBD, right now it seems to have been shelved. I am currently discussing a USB ELM327 option as opposed to the proprietary route that AS took (which obviously isn't working out so well). BT ELM327 would be ideal but the current BT module for AS units does not have host function.

If I have to buy another ELM scanner thats USB and route the cable to the back of the ANS810 then i would happily do that as long as they allow it to be generic etc, but its a shame they have shelved it as parts of it seemed to work (car info more than OBD) so clearly they can get the information to the headunit..
