How to find out if VW has bluetooth in it?

A friend has just bought a 2007 Passat wagon.... He wants to have hands free for his phone. It has the button on the steering wheel.. He has tried to pair it but gets no where... How do you find out if bluetooth is actually installed?

press the "phone" button on the headunit. if there is a bluetooth unit & no phone connected, it will show the option to make SOS calls.
or via the maxidot - there will be a "phone" menu listed.
if u press the 'phone' button on the steering wheel & there is no bt unit installed - it will simply mute the audio.

Where does it show the option to make sos calls and what is maxidot? He does not have an RNS510.... just standard radio.

All VW from that era have the same stearing wheel with the phone buttone but bluetooth was an option, not standard.

If its a factory option it'll have a star and spaner button above the centre consol next to the map light in the roof.

Thanks, but he does not have an RNS510, so the pictures dont help....
