• Golf R sound upgrade PICS

Thanks to the guys at Northfield Moorooka who did a faultless job. Speak to Matt or Drew, they know what they are talking about.

Nice system! Did the tweeters fit in the original location? Did they put in any sound deadening?

Thanks yes, the OE look is unchanged. No sound deadening, pockets not that deep lol

Thanks W, I've heard Golfs with Dynaudio, but the aftermarket Dynaudio is far superior. Not cheap though.

I'll be upgrading in a year or so.

I always thought the OEM Dynaudio was a bit weak compared to aftermarket and there are some very nice aftermarket head units with far more options and integration than the stock unit.

Enjoy the tunes mate. Next time we drive up, we must catch up.

Their is no need to upgrade the head unit, it is quality enough. The weak link is the speakers and amp n(if you have an amp)

Oh there are some nice head unit upgrades that allow you to custom map the steering wheel controls plus provide a much slicker interface

The Golf unit is a slug in that regard

Hi Brimway. It looks great. I also went for the aftermarket Dynaudio 242GT to the fronts with baffles and focal sound deadening all put in by Marty at FHRX in Sydney. The system sounds great - a terrific improvement on the oem - and you cannot tell from looking at the car that its not original which is exactly what I was after.

Your pic link doesn't work. The Dynaudio splits are just so good, they make the stock ones sound lame. Depends on what you want I guess.

Did you put the amps under the pass seat?

Sorry, I haven't yet learned how to attach pics. Yep I was originally after some different speakers recommended by another installer but after speaking to Marty was told that they were too deep and that they actually wouldn't fit without body work. I have a 2011 118TSI so unless an amp was included as original equipment, then I actually dont have an amp installed. I asked at the time but I was told that these speakers are efficient enough that they dont actually need one. I was a bit doubtful but I've had the system up to about 15 on the mfd which I guess must be half way but it was plenty loud enough for me playing led zep or ac/dc. The sound was great. I've now rediscovered cds and also reloaded my ipod using the apple loss less process to increase sound quality.

^^ you sure you don't have an Amp? If you don't I wouldn't be driving them hard! Dynaudio are inefficient and need heaps of power to run without damaging them.

Thanks Brendan however the installer said they were OK without adding an amp - especially as I was only having the fronts done. I dont need to listen to it more than halfway which is still very loud and so far the Dynaudio tweeters and mids sound superb.

Mate, just wondering how your finding this set up now you've been running it for a month or so.

Anything now you think you would have done differently, diff speakers, sub etc ?.

What kind of music are you listening to ?. Do you find it lacking in any areas ?.

Sorry for the questions, I was in Northfield the other day asking questions about an upgrade for my car and remembered you'd posted up you'd had a install done. So thought I'd ask and get some feedback. Hope you don't mind.

                              Cheers mate, Matt.
