  • 04/11 TSI, Which BT module do i buy?

    Hey all,

Picked up a Pepper Grey 04/11 TSI manual w/comfort pack from the auctions with hail damage (roof looks like a golf ball) but with only 16,000kms im really happy with it.

Anyway.... Im coming from a 6n which has a JVC BT headunit that is sensational and now I want BT in the 6R.

I have done some reading about the different units, those being the 9w2, 9w3 and 9w7 and the differences between them etc. It looks like the 9w2 and 9w7 are the only 2 that support AD2P streaming (which i want). There are 9w2 units you can get on ebay for about $270 delivered

however i had read from a few people (in the USA for example) that they really are not worth buying if you are starting from scratch and the 9w7 is a better choice with its expanded compatibility, extended features when combined with an RNS510 etc. I only have an RCD510, but you never know in the future.

Ebay has the 9W7 for about $550 or so delivered from Poland which is the only place i could really find (that was in english anyway).

Has anyone done the 9W7 BT module installation into a 6R without BT? Where did you get the kit from? What did it cost? Was any coding actually required when 'pairing' with an RCD510?

    TIA!

Check out eBay user 'vag-navisystems.com'. He was selling the 9w7 systems for approx $290 landed. Seller is in Spain. A few on here have bought them. Used to be called blu something.

I bought the 9w7 from.the Spaniard, for $300 delivered. Had it installed for me by a local car audio shop for $150 (not bad for 30 minutes work! I'm sure it would have taken me a lot longer, though)

It does integrate nicely with the RCD 510. I particularly appreciate BT streaming which allows me to use my Android phone's more powerful media player.

Unfortunately, the phonebook is garbled when downloaded, so it is unusable.
Fortunately, you can program in 6 preset numbers, and that's good enough for me. But it is annoying. I'd be curious to know if it happened with an iPhone.

I looked for that ebay username and could not find anaything as in i found them but they had no items for sale unless i have to check the ebay spain site perhaps?

anyway.. does this look like them also? http://www.vag-navisystems.com/volkswagen/266

looks like its got a little more expensive since 319 euro is about 420 aud

and http://myworld.ebay.com.au/**www.vag-navisystems.com** seems to have given up

Thats the guy. Looks like he is a bit more expensive now he is running a website. Still, 319 Euro includes 18%VAT, which you shouldn't have to pay, so it works out at 270 Euro, which is approx $340. Not sure what the shipping is though.

Another option I looked at was the Dension 5 gateway, which is about $330 landed.

The advantage of this system, is that it also includes an MDI interface (its another $50 for the iPod cable).
