  • Recommendations to install RNS510 in Melbourne

    Hi all,

I've been advised by dealer they can't get a Sat Nab factory fitted, wondering if there were any recommended specialist who can install and code to allow full use of the unit and displays (RNS display and tacho)?? Would also like to know a ball park figure of how much it may cost to have it installed too if thats possible.

Any info on experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Michael

Buy one off Ebay, install it your self, Some one here will code it for you for a small reward .

        Hi Michael,

I purchased an RNS510 unit in February (an Aussie guy working out of QLD)... he provided some contacts for installation in Melbourne.

        Contact details;
        Alister ph. 0408739463
        (Balwyn area)

Very reasonable installation rates ~$200... probably took about 1 hour, and is fully integrated with the MDI, park camera, instrument cluster... make sure you have also purchased GPS antenna (under $20 from eBay)... I know the dealer wanted $3500 for the RNS510... i paid under $1400 (installed)..

        Cheers, Justin

          Cheers,

Sounds very good. I actually told them I would buy it factory optioned if they had it, but they don't - they then tried to say they can install at the dealer but will cost more than 3300 quoted!! So I've spent most of my day reading forums and finding out what I will need to do.

Now to go back and confirm the deal.

          Cheers,

          Michael!

For the $200 installation rate your 2/3rds of the way to owning your own VCDS cable (which you can use for installing the RNS510 and other things), in case you were interested.

If you're installing just the unit itself without reverse cameras or other extras the job is really easier than you can imagine. Worthwhile to learn for yourself.

Looking for someone to install a reverse camera, not the head unit.

                      Hi,

Anyone in Melbourne to recommend? I need to install my RVC (number plate camera). I have all the wiring and relay soldered so plug and play. Just need to install the camera then wiring to the rear light and rear wiper.

                      Thanks

When a seller states that the RNS510 is plug and play (without camera's and MDI, etc), is the the case? I mean, is the VCDS cable required to install the nav?

VW noob trying to un noob myself.

It'll work without VCDS but it won't integrate with the MFD and other parts of the car, will be mostly standalone.

                              Hi all!

Just wondering how you went with RNS510 install?
Did anyone wire the reverse camera into the satnav unit from the rear bumper?
I went looking on ebay/amazon and picked a list of items, just wonder if they are right?
