  • Repair Wires no longer available

I enquired today with VW about buying a repair wire part number 000 979 135 (000979135): 1.0mm wire so I could add it to the items I need to install my Low Level RVC.

It showed on the VWA system at $11.00 but it is now obsolete with no alternative item shown.

This is one of the cables show in this thread Addition of extra circuits to the Volkswagen Golf / Jetta / Passat / EOS / Scirocco / Rabbit fuse box | my-gti.com

Does anyone have any ideas on where I can get source a cable with the correct spade terminal to go into the Scirocco / Golf fuse box to add another circuit or 2?

The replacement part number is 1009076.

If it's not stocked locally you m1ght have to source it overseas — at a pinch from ECS (Home Page > ES#1009076 WIRE SET - 000979135E), but their shipping cost for small parts is outrageous.

However, if it's only for the fuse box and you're only powering the camera setup, there's no need to go to all that trouble.

You can piggyback an extra fuse onto any existing fuse that's constant 12V (not one that turns off with the ignition) with very little trouble. I've done it and it works 100%.

Thanks for that... I did find the ECS one.. and you are right... $74 for US Postal Service freight... which is unbelievable...

I was trying to avoid piggy-backing where possible, I just want it to be as close to a factory type install as possible.
I might not have any short term option though... :

      Edit.....

I should have checked eBay before... lol I Found one in the UK and with Airmail it is 7 pounds....or A$11.00
      Same price as from VW...

you prolly don't need the 1.0mm one ask for the other sizes.

I just bought 2 weeks ago they did not have 1.0mm repair wire in stock, and 2.5mm repair wire was $10.xx each.

        I bought a few of the 2.5mm termainals @ $0.60 each from Barloworld (000979227): 2.5mm wire Terminals.

I then bought a cheap terminal crimper from Jaycar for $14.95 (supports the open barrel uninsulated terminals)

        Now I make my own
        and they look factory!

          Thanks for the info Gigitt
I will most likely get them as well.. I will be looking to add a switched circuit as well so it is always better to have some extra.
I already have a good quality terminal crimper so it is all good.
