  • 9W7 Bluetooth Kit differences i.e. C, F, G

    Hi all

I'm sure the answer to my question is buried deep in the threads somewhere but can anyone advise me as to the difference between C, F, G etc. with the 9W7 Bluetooth kits? I have a RCD510 in my R and understand that it will only be controllable through the MFD rather than the touch screen and won't have voice command capabilities.

A lot of people on the forums have mentioned the 9W7 as the way to go but unsure of the specific C, F, G differences.

There's seems to be a clear price difference too?

Perhaps ask the seller on eBay and let us know what they say
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

Question was asked a couple of days ago but still waiting for a response - thought I might try the guru's on the forum.

I'll be sure to advise others of the differences once I find out, unless of course someone knows the answer?

      Thanks

If I had to guess I'd say they're just revisions, similar to how the RNS510 has had an A, B, C, D, E, and F version (might even be up to G). They're just minor behind-the-scenes improvements added each year.

For the RNS510, the newer versions changed the type of screen (LCD to LED), increased the processor speed, etc. Bluetooth revisions might add extra options in the MDI, compatability with new phones/bluetooth standards, add extra ringtones - who knows

I finally heard back from bluewagen and he himself is unsure of the differences? You're probably right though Ryan, it's likely they're revisions.

          Thanks for your input

            That's a bit of a worry.

He definitely doesn't seem to have any troubles charging more with each revision though.

But hey we should be use to this by now!

That is ... people selling VW parts (including those weighing over 1 tonne) and knowing jack about their product.

              Hi,
Just wanted to let you know, that if you retro-fit a 9w7 BT kit to your R, you will be able to access functions via the RCD510.
You will actually have to code the car so you can access the BT via the MFD. You will need to code it so you can do things like choosing which phone to pair and other setup options.

Ordered a 9W7 5K0 unit last night to replace my 9W3. Hope to sort out AUX-In/MDI wiring issues at the same time. I also have to remember to delete the address book off my current 9W3 module.

Would've been nice if that promised HD Radio device had come out by now so I could do everything at once.
