  • Golf GTI MKVI Reversing sensors, satnav, bluetooth aftermarket

    Hi all,

I've picked up a 09 build MY10 Golf VI GTI. Very happy with how it drives, but it wasn't as optioned as I'd prefer.

I've seen people's threads about individual upgrades of the components I'm looking at, but has anyone done the three (or more) components I'm looking at? I'm located in Canberra and haven't yet had a chat to a dealer or autotech. I've currently got what I believe is the RCD510.

    Cheers

    Mat

have done RNS510 SatNav and 9W7 Bluetooth, both were a piece of cake, bought my SatNav off Peter on VWNavi, and Bluetooth off bluewagon on eBay. am in Melbourne so couldn't help physically, but really it's just a matter of pulling out the RCD510 and pushing the Bluetooth and SatNav in, and running the microphone. Then coding. Wiring harness for the Bluetooth was a little wack, but didn't take all that much effort to adjust, will look up the post tomorrow morning. Am looking at installing OPS both front and back, might happen in the next 2 months, might... Will keep you posted

The sat nav is basically the rns510. Costs ~$1000 for current one and requires removal of rcd510, some coding and that's all. The Bluetooth is pretty much the same, a unit installed under the seat. Not sure on current costs, but it's not overly expensive
The ops, whIch I installed rear only kit was a mission. But Derek at ea got it working after much messing about

I estimate $2500 all uP including install should cover it

ok here's a link to the post i was talking about...

        http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post727210

and here's a link to the unit on ebay

        Bluetooth VW RNS 510 9W7 UHV AD2P / 7P6 035 730 F!!! 2012!!! newer than 5K0! | eBay

while it is possible to install the unit under the seat, it requires trim removal (which i despise), so I just pushed mine down behind the ac controls, also its possible that the microphone will work without the adjustment, however there were reports of a whining noise being received by the unit, so I decided to make the change before testing it

and finally the OPS kit i am thinking of buying...

VW OPS optical parking system RNS RCD 510 MFD3 GOLF PDC | eBay

a little bit worried though, as the unit pictured is a 3C8 919 475 C, but in the description it lists 5K0 919 475 E. Hopefully it is the latter, as i've read 3C8 units give an electric brake error, as they are destined for passats which have an electric brake. Also it appears to have a tiguan style button instead of a golf button (despite neither being listed in the description), which would obviously need to be replaced.

Also walbjj, you wouldn't happen to know what problems Derek ran into, and how he managed to fix them. Being in Melbourne makes getting Derek to install it rather difficult. Was thinking i would wire it all up, then attach the power and the CAN bus to see if it works, before doing any drilling or trim removal.

Problems were basically the ops wouldn't communicate to the canbus so wouldn't show up on the rcd510. Also he tried installing a unit on a mk5 r32, got it beeping but no visual display. Again this was a canbus conflict.
No amount of rewiring would make it work. Hecoded numerous ways. FinAlly got a contact with a vw electrical engineer consultant who gave the required info to make it work

I'm technically illiterate, that's why I pay others to fix my plumbing, wiring, and service my car. Otherwise I'll probably be missing a few fingers

              Give Derek a shout
