When the RNS loses connection with the satellite, it can read the cars sensors (speedometer, steering wheel position, etc) to determine (or at least estimate) your position on the map. Works well in tunnels/cities, not quite so great in forests, but better than any portable satnav in that regard.

You'll find some portables do work in tunnels and project your position.

Certainly my TomTom did that.

Hey mate, I am not sure if this is the same seller but I bought my RNS 510 H LED from www.jku.com.au from Townsville as well as 9w7 Bluetooth and Rear Camera. He has done me a bit of a deal on 3 items. Nothing to write back home about but I saved about $100 from the prices they have on the website.

Installed it all myself , coded everything in Radio/Navigation and he helped me with coding it properly as I didn't know that

- camera needed to be coded in Park Steer Assist
- DVD region set to 4 to play video in motion
- Voice control had to be coded in steering

Now all working well, Bluetooth is streaming Audio, titles are coming on. Wife can watch movies when we go for longer drive.

All in all quite happy with the products, service and support I received from the mob in Towsville.
