Different maps for Passat GPS

Is there any way something like Tom tom maps can be installed on an RNS 510 unit.

I had my maps upgraded yesterday to ver 4.1 and it still hasnt got an interchange that has been finished for nearly 18 months on it.

Am bitterly disappointed at the lack of full text to speech as well. Saying " Stay on this road for a long time " is an absolute joke.

For the price I think the unit is crap and had it not been in the particular vehicle would not have bought it.

My $300 Tom Tom gives me 4 maps a year and VW can only manage an outdated one every two years.

Tomtom also gives teh name of the street to turn into which the VW does not.

Has already caused problems at multi exit roundabouts.

Am seriously thinking of selling it and getting a replacement unit that accepts Tom Tom navigation.

Any advice is appreciated

have you got the nav up also on your dash cluster?

street names and distance comes up in that on my GTI fine, no probs...

yes I do and yes they appear but I am used to the Tom tom saying "Turn left at Smith St"

whereas the VW just says "Turn left NOW".

A satnav should be listened to not watched You should be watching where you are going and the satnav should tell you which street, you shouldnt have to look at it to know..

Just my take on safe driving.

Well you're also not going to like the fact that there's no ability also to set an audible sound warning that you are approaching a selected POI (e.g. speed camera).
