If you jailbreak your iphone and install rSAPserver app from cydia store it'll work on iphone 3,3gs or 4 but not 4s yet. 4S has different hardware and will take some time to get working.
Please go here (iPhone 4S RSAP-Server support) and let the developer know your interested so he is encouraged to continue his good work
also tell him it's worth more than $9.99 to you if it works

i noticed u still can't read/send txt messages.
with proper rsap enabled phone (like the nokias, or samsung galaxy s2 with gingerbread), u get the "premium" logo displayed, and u can actually read txt/sms messages on the headunit and maxidot.

i think this just enables the hands-free protocol to work between the iphone and an rsap-only bt unit.

i was wrong - "rsap server" does indeed allows for txt messages to b displayed/read/replied using the rns & maxidot.
the pictures in the on the various websites did not show this, hence my initial doubt.

i installed the trial app last night on my 3GS (running os5.1.1), and it works like a charm in rsap mode.
here is too long lasting battery life & superior signal reception
