RNS510 Aux playback fuzzy

I have a 2010 Passat CC with a RNS510 stereo unit in it and when it is in aux mode to playback from an iPod the music comes out fuzzy (like an untuned radio station). The unit plays fine in radio and HDD modes. Does anyone have any ideas?

PS. It happens when plugged into both the MDI and aux jacks.
