Newest RCD510 model no security code?

Hi all,

Have recently seen a few sales of RCD510 units around the web, with people claiming that they have confirmed with VW and that the latest revision/software/firmware of the RCD510 requires no more security coding.

I'm about to buy a RCD510 on ebay, and if theres newer versions available then yes I would get the latest one but want to confirm if people here have heard such things.

Just ring a VW dealer and ask for advise it will only cost a phone call ,but when i pulled my 300 rcd out i had to take the cars vin number plus the radio serial number to a dealer to get the code ,

yeah, i did... no they still have security codes... someone on another forum was selling a dodgy one *cough*stolen* i think...

All units from vw, have security codes, supposed to prevent thiefs n stuff :S
