How to install MDI in MK5 without CD Changer mount?

Been doing a lot of googling, came to a conclusion (older posts) that i may need to replace my centre console, does anyone else know about this?
I already have the MDI kit and it is a large framed unit, i had the idea it was the glove box kit but i read wrong. So is there an easier way of installing this without replacing the whole centre console?
Can i break off the frame or something?

I reckon you're options are either to replace or cut.

I just ran the iPod cable and control box for my Dension Gateway Five and came to that realisation that you'd need a separate center console.
