MDI retrofit question??

Guys, I'm about to retrofit an MDI kit into the back of my RCD310, question is, if I unplug the loom from the back of the headunit, will I need to enter the security code into the head unit again once the new loom is fitted???

I was of the impression the car remembers the radio so it won't need to be reentered.

Hi Creniac,

It shouldn't ask you for the security code. I had my RNS 510 unplugged for a couple of hours. I even removed the fuse from for the radio and it didn't prompt for the security code.

Yes, the OEM radio is coded to the car via VCDS so you never need to enter the security code no matter how long it has been removed from the car.

Can you let me know how you go with this, and were you got MIDI from ect because I have the same radio, an be want 1500 to install the MIDI, so if its easy and cheaper I will do this myself.

If your interested i got a used one i took out of my car before it was sold the new car has one installed from factory ill install and we can work out decent price if your interested???
