Recent experiences with Zenec NC2010 ?

hrmmm interesting... i wonder if theres any different between UK version and one sourced locally.. like in regards to DVD regions and features

*Edit after taking a quick visit to Zenec Australia website seems like Australian units are region 2 >< seems like sourcing it from the UK might be a good option

I must admit I didn't think about the DVD region. I don't intend to use optical discs much and I have no intention of watching a DVD movie, but it's obviously yet another point to consider when choosing options.

I'm now trying to figure out the best RVC setup and juggling between the option to buy an interface to the OEM camera or somehow sourcing a Zenec camera (there are at least two Zenec options for the Tiguan).

I did finally get a UK online store that is willing to ship to Australia, though. Combined with the £110 shipping, the total cost for the NC2010 from Car Audio Centre is $1400.

Will it also have aus maps installed? I couldn't get a firm answer on this which us why I gave up on sourcing a UK unit

No mention was made of default map data installed. I'm assuming their UK maps will be installed and I'll source the Australia/New Zealand 2011 Q3 map data from Naviextras.

Cool... I assume you've already researched how to upgrade the maps and know what you're doing... I hit a brick wall at that point lol

it says 43 maps are included, so Australia might be on that list already, and updates are through naviextra's as specified on Zenec's website

There are 43 countries in Europe, so don't expect to have Australian street map data on the unit pre-loaded unless you're getting it through a Zenec reseller in Australia.

i decided to email Zenec Australia a few days ago regarding why they are selling region 2 dvd players in their HU's and why this hasnt been converted to the Australian region 4 code.

I received a response from them this morning saying that region 2 code is a universal code and that the unit will play Australian DVD's no problems.

Are they talking out of their rear end? as its the first i've heard of this (always thought region 0 was universal)

If its true might end up buying from the above UK link.

Let's just say I recently used VCDS to change my RNS510 from Region 2 to Region 4 because some DVDs wouldn't play


Region 2 is the UK. Region 0 is International in the sense of ships and planes travelling between countries, but doesn't mean it's Region Free (iirc).

I've found another potential source that seems to ship to Australia, however I'm getting an error when I get to the redirection stage with Paypal. I've placed the details in my earlier post to this thread. If anyone decides to give them a go, could you please let me know if you had issues with the redirect feature after committing to the purchase? I've emailed ACR to ask for their help and will advise if they change their mind about sales to Australia.

I've gone ahead with these guys. Zenec NC2010 and RCE2001B for less than the price of just the head unit from the next cheapest option.

what was the response ACR gave you? i had a looksie at their website and the pay via paypal option didnt seem to work for me either.

also i thought the RCE2001B was only compatible with 2009 tiggy's?
