  • Samsung Galaxy and Tiguan Bluetooth

Is anyone else having trouble with the Samsung Galaxy Bluetooth and Tiguan 2011? I have a factory fitted unit and the galaxy sometimes connects (sometimes not) and when it does, often you cant make calls and when receiving calls, they do not get routed through the car bluetooth?

I am putting this down to the galaxy as I also have a Nokia and it has no problems at all. I have updated the galaxy firmware to Froyo (original firmware 2.1 would not even connect to the tiguan) hoping this would fix it but no luck.

Not sure what else to try?

    Hey sammy,

Exact same issue for me. my samsung rarely talks properly to the golf bluetooth. from what I have read its due to the bluetooth protocol the vw's use, its some old nokia one.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that my gf's iphone works perfectly...

sorry I don't have a solution apart from buy a new phone

It could also be related to Android OS.

I have a GS2 runs perfectly with new Tiguan RNS 510 and bluetooth, either the MDF display or the RNS display. What Firmware are you running on the GS2, I run 2.3.3? Do you have any other devices in the car which pair or can pair with your phone? Is your GF's phone running bluetooth at the same time? From the MDF screen when it does not conenct is it searchable?

I recent installed the 9W7 bluetooth and it pairs with a Samsung Galaxy Ace (os2.2) and HTC Incredible (os2.3). 99% of the time, but every now and again the Samsung, would connect but you could not hear anyone and the HTC just wont connect. In both cases, switching the phones off and or switching the car on and off, works in reconnecting the phones properly.

I get the same issues with my Galaxy S. I have Froyo and sometimes after being connected for a while it will decide it no longer wants to be connected and will revert back to only working from the phone itself. Super annoying when on long trips!! I don't know what to do to fix it so I just deal with it.

In my case, the Samsung Galaxy Ace, would drop out in certain areas, and while it was still visible in the MFD, it would not reconnect, unless I turned the engine off (switching off the bt module). The HTC doesn't drop out, it just doesn't connect in the first instance.

Also on the MFD, I only get the bluetooth symbol, and blank squares. no battery strength or audio, although the phones will stream music.

I know HTC left a very old bluetooth module in for the HTC Incredible S and did not take the upgrade, people have been having issues connecting to BMW / Audi bluetooth modules with HTC:

Some developers have made their own HID drivers for Android phones without the upgrade, however cant find anyhting for HTC...

Nope.. I try to search for it but it can't connect to the phone. I usually turn the car off or restart my phone. One or the other typically works.

                            Yep phone book loads both on RNS and MFD screen, couple of things;

1/ Are you using the standard android/samsung phone book? Or one of those personal assistant apps which manage this stuff? I am using the standard one
                            2/ Running Android 2.3.3
3/ Do you have administrators configured on your phone? I do not use this as have found issues with this and bluetooth on my PC.
4/ Disable any power saving or power saving apps, just use the 'notification slide down' to enabel disable wifi, blueooth, gps etc.

                              1)Standard android/samsung phone book
2)Running Android 2.2 (cant get gingerbread yet. But I tried the bluetooth on my sisters Galaxy 2 which is on gingerbread and the car would not even detect her phone)
                              3)No administrators on the phone
                              4)All power savings apps disabled

Tried again this afternoon, first it connected, could access phone book through MFD. I called the phone, no problems, went through the cars bluetooth, could see it on both the RNS and MFD (great I think!) then I tried to make a call accessing the phones phone book through the car - 'Call failed'. So I try making a call by pressing the buttons on the phone, calls fine, but does not go through the car bluetooth (I do the same think on my Nokia and it DOES go through the car bluetooth, even when dialed from the phone directly). Try calling the samsung again, call goes through to phone, even though its connected to the car (and I still have access to the phone book). I disconnect, turn car off and on again, this time it wont even detect the samsung!
