Does the RNS510 have an amplifier of any sorts?

I've read that the RNS510 does have a small amp located somewhere in the car, but anyone know if this is true?

I'm already getting a bit 'over' the sound quality which is only as good until you hear someone who has upgraded - then I realise what I am missing.

Thus just wondering whether you get new front speakers (splits) and an amp fitted - thus does one exist do you know?

I appreciate there are many things I could do, but in the past, I've found a decent amp and decent set of front speakers/splits provides a very good upgrade, and although I have a top notch Alpine HU (ipod version) sitting around doing nothing, I'm reluctant to pull out the RNS510 given the other benefits it provides.

I know if you have the factory Dynaudio option then there is an amp under the passenger's seat as part of the Dynaudio package.

Thanks - was aware of that but I have heard that those without Dynaudio but with the RNS510 have a smaller amp - hence my question....

Yes RNS510 without Dynaudio has a small amp fitted. I had mine reefed out and replaced with an arc audio amp and Alpine splits. Still have the original amp if anyone wants it!

I think Passat and Golf V had an external amp, but 99.99% certain the MkVI doesn't have one (cost cutting ?)

Thanks Nick - but I'm actually afraid of that because then I get the urge to spend without having the cash to do so. A challenging dilemma... but I may just take you up on the offer when the urge becomes too much.
