  • Rns 510 vim cd a-ok

Lithuanian CD arrived in the post this morning. With a little anxiety I followed the instructions and inserted the Video in Motion CD into my RNS 510. In less than five minutes it said upgrade done. I took one of the kids favorite DVDs - Ponyo - and popped it in.

Not a squeak out of the kids in the back as they watched Ponyo on the move.

Have to report all good. The VIM CD works a treat.
In Canberra if anyone wants to fix up their kids or passengers

Added - and here's the guts of the code -

    # Speed limit DVD/TV: 300km/h
    SetRegDataHex(0x0B3A,"012C",0x0,0x2,0x89)

Does this mean you can change other settings without the VAGCOM cable?

      No problemo.

Does that mean you could copy another piece of code (say to enable the hidden menus) burn it to a CD and make other changes without the VAGCOM kit ??

Yeah that works fine - in fact if you're not already running one of Josi's custom firmwares then they actually do exactly that as part of the loading process.

In you download the SWL Recovery disk, burn it and pop it in your unit it will enable the test menu for you - all without needing VCDS

I've got to admit I have no idea what registry values tie up with which VCDS settings - I just ordered one of the clone cables off eBay to set my car up and it worked fine tbh.

I took a bit of a risk with my unit but it's working fine - went from 2660 to 2760 so I've now got 7 digit postcode support over in the UK and VIM working a treat - really happy.

Here's the link to the CD:

There's links to download the Unofficial SWL Recovery CD throughout Maverick's website!

Here's one thread that has it (for example):
