Ebay 7" GPS, MP3, DVD etc Purchases???

Hi guys,
Anyone had any experiences with a head unit like this. It sounds really cool and would be handy to have Ipod connectivity as well as MP3, DVD satnav, etc. It almost sounds too good a deal. It also talks about the canbus being included. I presume that means that you would have to change it with your existing one?? Any advice?? It might be a good little surprise for the missus' car.

These units are popping up everywhere, save yourself time and money and go with either an RNS510 or a quality brand name unit. These eBay units are nothing but trouble, been there already

x 2 they're absolute crap. Search on waywell on this forum and the golfmkv.com forum and you'll see thousands of posts of people having problems and getting ripped off.

they last for a bit but eventually give in.....

i rekon go for an rcd510 unit if you can get one... reasonably priced over the rns510 which is nearly much of much the same thing except with the sat nav option

i have installed one in my car and although i probably wont even use half the features ! it rocks...

the rcd310 does the job for a person who just needs to listen to their cd/mp3 and be done..... i have one for sale forf $75.. however seen these advertised at $150.

rcd510 is more about looks and appeal ($375ish)

rns510... well thats another story! ($1000 ish)

whichever your budget allows... majority of vwwatercooled will agree that the genuine ones are probably the best ones to go for ! cheers

Thanks raygti, Did you have to update the canbus?? I have been considering this update and can get a unit but I am scared of this battery drain issue.

No worries Leon , yes learnt the hardway having a flat battery

I managed to track down a can bus but now stuck with the problem of who can code it ????

Few brisbanites are not replying so hopefully a fellow dubber will help !!! I must say it's not as a easy swap n play thing
