  • Unable to stream bluetooth audio from iphone 4

I have an iphone 4 with the latest firmware. Also have a Tiguan that has an RNS 510 which I just updated to version 2670 which fixed my issue I had reading SD cards greater than 2gb.

However, I still cannot stream music from the iphone via the bluetooth. I am able to pair the phone to the RNS and I can receive calls from the car. I am unsure which bluetooth module I have as it was fitted by the dealer and the manual does not seem to specify the model also. However the manual does say "Volkswagon genuine Accessories Hands Free Kit" on the cover and inside the manual it does specify that I should be able to use bluetooth audio.

When I click on the media, the bluetooth audio button at the top does not highlight for me to click like SD Card or HD.

Any ideas? BT Streaming would be great if i can get it to work.

Most of the bluetooth kits released by VW do not support bluetooth streaming. Unless it's a brand new kit less than a year old, you're out of luck.

not sure if its factory or not, but it came with the car. car is 06/09. After doing more research, Im sure its an apple problem.

Its definitely supported because the manual says it does.

I will get this to work!!!

Make sure you go to media settings and enable bluetooth streaming then hey presto it should be playing.. you can control voloume with your apple product and or the steering wheel controls..

.. Please note you can not change tracks using your stereo as it is only streaming.. So make sure u have put a good driving playlist together..

I've definitely enabled bluetooth audio in the Settings > Media options. The bluetooth option in the Media button is not highlighted to be selectable.

I don;t think there were any bluetooth kits available for VW that included bluetooth streaming in '09.

Cant be true.. because the manual for the bluetooth specifically has instructions for bt audio streaming.

                Not so.

Manuals are generic these days. Remember the Polo manual talks about DRL's and options that either our Australian models dont have, or specific models dont have (ie TSi v GTi).

I think Big W is right - too soon for VTub to have BT with A2DA

What you need to establish is whether your Apple product is capable of streaming BT audio.

I was fairly sure, that due to a lack of licensing agreements, that Apple products could not do this.

As for what BT system you have fitted, it could be anything, really. A lot of dealers seem to fit whatever they can make the most money out of. The only Genuine VW BT system that I'm aware of, that supports Apple products in any way, is the Touchphone "Tower" system.

iPhones can stream Bluetooth, I can do it on my original iPhone 3G and my iPhone 4.
