  • Powered Sub. Anyone used one?

I have a new head unit and speakers in my 06 Polo GTI, but I now want to fill out the bass a bit. I'm not looking for doofdoof sounds, just something balanced.
I'm also going to fit it myself, and don't want to take up too much boot space.
There are a few powered subs around (amp and sub in one box) and the Fusion 8" one is reasonably small. Fusion 8" Active Sub
    or the 10" tube.

The smaller one might just fit under a seat, but the bigger one will have to go in the boot.

I need it to be easily removable if it's in the boot.

    Any comments, dubbers?

    TIA,
    Kev.

Rather than the tube, you can just get an ordinary boxed sub and attach the amp to it - there are loads of both available cheap on eBay. A 10" sub is ample and get a sealed enclosure as the sound will almost certainly be better than a badly ported one. And 100W RMS is HEAPS in a little car like a Polo.

I have mine (in my '08 Polo) very quickly removable by connecting the power/ground/switch to the amp via a 3 pin power plug and socket.

my brother has the fusion 8" powered sub, but the previous model, its ok, but its never going to be as effective as a proper sub.

        Thanks for the advice, gents.
I went shopping and found that the Fusion 10" powered sub was too cheap to pass up. $199 for an amp, sub and box already built, with everything needed to fit it - cables, fuses, straps. It was hard to buy separates for that much.
I fitted it in about 2 hours, running the power cable through the front wing and under the trim on the sill. RCA, control and remote leads went through the centre console and under the carpet between the rear seats. All I need to do now is fix the bass adjuster under the dash.

Only problem is that I no longer have a 12v supply while the key is in the ignition. Maybe because I disconnected the battery and something needs to be reset?

Tube is much better than the under seat sub. Good choice

Yep, much better than the underseat.
Not a bad price all up. How have you made it quick removable?

I preferred to run the cabling up the passenger side door sills to make sure they wouldn't get stood on but that's probably less of a concern with GTi

I haven't made it removable yet. I need to find a plug that can take the 8-gauge wires!
After almost 2 months I'm still happy with the sub, although I noticed them recently for $188 - quite a bargain!
