9W7: Garbled voice prompt??

Have had 9W7 working well in Golf R. A reputable company had a play using a VCDS cable (for other reasons) and now the lady voice prompt, 'main menu' , comes out garbled, slow and slurred. Normal voice control also does not work as previous (recognition is worse). The guys say that they restored all coding and everything as it was???

Any help is appreciated.

Where/how did you have your BT installed? Factory or aftermarket? VW or someone else?

Not sure how garbled yours is, but here is a short video of mine. I think mine sounds OK. How does yours sound compared to mine?

I installed it myself. Bought the 9W7 off eBay. Coded with my own vagcom.

There's no fault when using the Bluetooth. Only the voice menus are garbled.

Sorry, what are voice menus? Is it when the lady talks, as in my video? I am not sure now what you are referring too???????
Is it when you tell the radio to change stations etc.???

Nothing to do with the radio stations. It's when she says "Main Menu". It sounds more like "Ma-a-ai-in Me-enu".

Everything works fine after that though.

Can't say that I have ever heard "Main Menu". I'll have to have a play with my system.

I think that you have your steering wheel control linked to you RNS rather than the 9W7. You can have it either way. I have it set-up such that the star button on RNS only controls RNS voice activation and that steering wheel button controls the 9W7 voice activation. That is why I get the 'ba-ding main menu' where as you get the 'ba-ding' only. It has been my 'ba-ding main menu' that has been coming out garbled. BUT I have now found out that the 'settings-language' in the MFD will also control the 9W7 language. I changed it to US english and it no longer sounds garbled, sounds normal. But now MFD now says MFI and some other settings are more US than UK. I am thinking that the language on the MFD and the language of the 9W7 (VCDS) need to correspond for all to be good and sounds normal.
