  • Featureless Fibredyne - don't do it

Want a good full feature bluetooth option. Thinking your dealer will do the right thing by you...

...make sure they dont fit Fibredyne.

It lacks some pretty basic features, given we are now in 2011 and Bluetooth has been around for years. It doesn't allow audio music streaming. So your precious music collection on your iPhone or Andriod will stay just that...precious.

If you want to actually play your music collection via your Bluetooth phone...make sure you ask for a brand other than featureless Fibredyne.

    Yours stung.

Allow me to respond again, as you have decided to post numerous posts and now a new thread...

I am a software engineer for Fiberdyne Systems.

    - the Fiberdyne VW/Skoda Bluetooth kit is designed and manufactured in Melbourne. It is not imported. It is an Australian designed, manufactured, and supported product, by an Australian-owned company.
    - For support you can contact us directly, or through your dealer.
    - you will be supported locally by the actual engineers that design the product.
    - our factory and offices are in Thomastown, only a few minutes from Epping VW.
    - we stand by the functionality of our product, evidenced by the large volumes we export worldwide.

And if you had contacted us, we could have informed you that upgraded strereo bluetooth streaming functionality will be available in the next week.
Our kit does allow music streaming, it's just that with the newer headunits it was in Mono until the above upgrade.

      Hi gladsy from Fibredyne Systems,
Thanks for posting an update to mine. My intention is not to 'rubbish' your product or company. Simply to let fellow VW owners know there are better Bluetooth options available on the market.

Anyone who takes a look at your web presence maybe forgiven for thinking you have little user/ customer support information available. Not even a phone number. http://www.fdyne.com/fdyne/ Nice work.
The number I was given went to an answer service. Nice.

I commend you for standing by the functionality of your product, but alas lament that it does not have music audio streaming. This is not some new feature ... My previous car and Bluetooth stereo had it....

So I too stand by my opinion that fellow readers should ensure they ask for a Bluetooth product with a decent feature set.

Re read your comment about your current kit allowing music streaming...just that it was in Mono. !!!!

Not sure VW sell too many cars with mono radios. Stereo has been the defacto for some years now.

Publish your phone number and maybe customers could contact you.

From discussions I had with my VW dealer today they have offered to refund me the kit and install costs on your Fibredyne 'mono' bluetooth. Try putting it on eBay and see how many buyers want mono...

Maybe you'd like to ship me a complimentary replacement and i can tell everyone what it's like to listen to streamed music in stereo again?

If I can help with any future upgrade suggestions please let me know,
      Cheers

        Hi 77kw polo TSi,

I have responded to you via PM, one of our engineers will be in contact with you to support you.

I would welcome others to peruse our website via the link you provided above. From there you can get to the mObridge site, which is the actual brand of the Bluetooth product that we manufacture, where you will find a lot more information on our products and support options.

I would also encourage others who have any problem or issue with a dealer-fit accessory to take it up with their dealer, and if need be, ask to be put in contact with the supplier of the item.

        Thanks,

Thanks for the PM gladsy, and for the benefit of all the VDubbers who have read my rant of a post, I'd like to publicly acknowledge that I was in the wrong.

My disappointment at not having stereo audio streaming led me to enquire with my dealer and email a help request to mOBridge ... The dealer and I had a disagreement about what constituted a full feature Bluetooth system, AND I inadvertently emailed mOBridge USA. Getting no immediate reply I tried to contact Fibredyne HQ and failed.

After my frustrated, but in-polite rant, gladsy thankfully tried to make contact with me (thank you) and early this morning I had an email reply from the AUS office, who had just received my initial enquiry (via the USA office).

So I feel like a heel, and want to confirm :
          1. The unit installed by the dealer was never going to do what I expected. Not a fault of the product.
          2. If I'd emailed the right Fibredyne contact details I'd have got a response sooner, and
          3. Fibredyne have offered to update my unit

So in stereo; THANK YOU FIBREDYNE - THANK YOU FIBREDYNE

customer service despite a ranting in-the-wrong customer.
          Much appreciated.
