I HAVE A RCD 510 AND WONDER IF YOU CAN USE THAT TO RETROFIT A REVERSE CAMERA OR DO YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE TO THE RNS 510?

No need to upgrade to RNS510 (you would still not be able connect RV cam directly to the unit), you need the interafce connected to the RCD and camera connects to the interface. Ebay is your friend.

AFAIK, not all RCD-510s are equipped with a video input interface, which is required if fitting an RVC. Certainly with the MkVI GTI, only those cars with an RVC fitted at the factory have the required video interface.

So you'd be safest taking the head unit out and inspecting the rear to confirm. Check out my-gti.com for detailed info.
