Depends on what they are charging you,are you suppling the RNS510 ,if you are it will come with a magnetic GPS aerial,
If you want the shark fin be prepared to pay about $500 for the install.

They are charging $2400 all up. They said the install would be 400. And the unit is 2k. Said that was a good deal, and they keep the rcd510 - which I think knocked the price down a bit.

Does that mean a fin ??

Are you sure that price included a shark fin ? Because that involves removing the headlining,
Or you could of bought one from England or Lithuania for $950 delivered and had it installed for $100 as its only a 1 hr job and you could of sold your old RCD 510 on ebay for $250 and the all up cost would of been less than $800.

And after three months when the warranty is up ? And the reworked / reconditioned chip or screen fries again ? Then what ... Sometimes cheap does not equate to value. I guess that's the good thing about differing opinions.

Which dealer if you don't mind my asking? I phoned a few Sydney dealers (granted I wasn't really trying hard) and they were all quoting more than $3k.

I don't think they would install a fin. When I enquired, the dealers were saying that the GPS antenna is after market and would be installed where the rain sensor is. Not sure if they knew what they were talking about, but that's what they said.

Having said that, I'm getting fantastic reception from the antenna that's sitting directly under the soft plastic dash. Only when I removed the air vents did I realise how thin that soft touch plastic really is. No wonder the reception is awesome... and consider that this is where most portable GPS units would be placed anyway i.e. under the windscreen. I get more than 4 satellites within 5 seconds of exiting the Sydney Harbour Tunnel... it was also overcast today!!

I very much doubt they'll put the fin in for you. Was having a chat with someone who does retrofits and said they never put the fin in, routing cable to the roof at the rear is just too much of a PITA and would take hours of labour just for that.

Bayford Victoria - they have been great so far. I changed my mind on the TDi and went for. TSI - they called dub, and got me a grey one on the ship due in this week. It's less than a normal quote because they are taking my RDS 510 (coming in the grey car) in xchange.
