  • RNS510\iPhone 4\Bluetooth and VoiceMail

I have a problem where if I dial voicemail either from the RNS510\MDI or the iPhone it connects OK and I can do what I need to on teh iPhone keypad, but Bluetooth does not play...I get no audio.

I've checked that the audio source on the phone is set to VW.

Everything else, calls, BT Audio Streaming etc. works perfectly.

That's probably an issue with the A2DP harness... going from memory, but pretty sure it's possible to only connect input on left or right side with the harness isn't complete.

Hmmm...so when I do a Bluetooth phone call it comes out all four speakers, but the music does not. It's coming off an iPhone which works okay paired to a Sony head unit in our other car.

Can it still be the A2dp and if so....is it a dealer fixable thing ?
        Cheers

Looks like the guys at VWNAVI have it sorted.... You are right - incomplete wiring into the harness ... Two more spliced wires required...

Re: iPhone 4 Bluetooth Streaming Music Problems
Had the same problem in my Superb2.

          Some wires are missing. Namely:

4 Audio RF Signal Out + connected to be connected to pin 11 con 3
5 Audio RF Signal Out – connected to be connected to pin 5 con

Pin 4 in the blue connector on the bluetooth module, has to be wired to pin 11 in the small green connector in the quadlock on the back of the Columbus. Ditto, pin 5 in the bluetooth goes to pin 5 in the green connector in the quadlock.

Look here for the pinouts of the quadlock:
Volkswagen RNS 510 Microphone Connection for voice control | my-gti.com

You'll see that pins 5 and 11 are Telephone L+ and Telephone L-

In the bluetooth connector, the positions are actually numbered clearly on the connector, so no diagram is required.

You should used some screened audio cable. I simply chopped up a phono->phono lead to get mine.

          Hope that helps,

          Andy.

Does visual voicemail show up on the screen? I've got visual voicemail configured on my phone but I haven't tried to integrate this with the RNS - anything special you have to do?

It was an issue with the 4.2 software , Holden Toyota and Ford had the same issue
