Hi guys,
I was having a browse on ebay today and saw that they now offer a wireless reverse camera.

I understand that Kufatec sell a harness that allows AV input into the RNS510.
Is there a website that sells this and can anyone point out what part number etc i need?

Aslo, the TV system is NTSC but they advise you can contact them if you need a PAL.
I assume we would need the PAL version?

What you're looking at there is just another Chinese reversing camera — I'd suggest you look at a locally available version before buying one.

I think you'll find they only support a separate screen such as the rear vision mirror variety.

As to the Kufatec harness, it probably doesn't have an RCA input at the camera end so wouldn't suit those cameras, plus it's quite likely your built-in screen wouldn't talk to the Chinese camera anyway.

Thats the same camera i used on my Gt Golf, but i used a seperate monitor, i think you need a multi media adpator for it to work on a RNS510.

That looks as though it will work — total cost would be under $250 provided you can DIY.

I'm currently fitting the OEM unit to my Golf TDI and it will be somewhere north of $600 by the time I get it working.

Actually, if you do the currency conversion it works out much the same: 110 sterling = about $157 — the quoted UK price includes UK VAT, which wouldn't apply when shipping to AU, so they're probably using it to pay overseas postage.

Looking at the picture of the cable it shows only one cinch plug and the output from the converter appears to use that, so you'd need to check before committing yourself. I think for the RNS unit it should have one on each end?

I all else fails i will see how much a retrofit costs.

I asked them if it would work with the RNS 510 and they replied it would,but you would have to switch manually.

If it is hooked up to a relay form the reverse light it should turn itself on when reverse is selected?

Kufatec supports NTSC however PAL does work depending on the revision.

And I wouldn't touch the Kufatec interfaces after the problems I and others had with them with the RNS 510's, at times I was lucky if it switched on 20% of the time when I reversed. Support for future firmware updates to the head unit is questionable, the operation of the unit was poor (images would start up in colour or black and white depending on the mood) and there were numerous other problems.

Steer clear or you'll be pulling your hair out and wasting a lot of time on trying to sort it out.
