    hi Skitz,

just a few quick question about the INA-W900E and appreciate if you can help:

    1. with the Navi, can you type in the suburb or it's just street name then city? how reliable has it been with finding the correct street when there are multiple selections for the same/similar street name?

    2. is it possible to earth the handbrake cable so dvd can be played at all times (i know it's illegal but...)?

    3. it seems it can only use Alpine "direct" rear view camera, am i correct?

    thanks in advance.

INAW900E for Passat R36 with Dynaudio

      Hi guys,
We're looking at best options for upgrading from our factory RCD 510 to a NAV / bluetooth integrated solution and was wondering bout the Alpine unit too.
      Some quick questions:
      1. Will this unit integrate similarly into a Passat and is the fascia kit the same?
      2. Will it plug directly into the factory upgraded dynaudio setup?
      3. Will we lose the optical parking sensor function?

Losing the OPS would be a particularly real pain as they're great for protecting the R36's low bits!

      Thanks to all!

That would be RNS510 by a long shot.

If it is the same as my Alpine (IXA-W407EBT) then the answer to question 2 is no, not that simple. Alpine have come up with this elaborate sequence of footbrake + handbrake operation that has to be done to activate the video player function each time. However, there are some units out there that claim to emulate this sequence on startup.

Again, if it is the same as mine that you can use any RCA camera, they just try to promote their own of course!

actually, no, it's not the same as your 407, only grey import 900's require the sequence desribed but these are also unable to accept Australian maps and are regionalised to country of origin so are of no use here. BTW the Australian spec 407's also never had the sequence you describe, only grey import units operate this way.
              Cheers

Just bought an INA W900 for my Polo. Have to wait 2 weeks due to work to get the install done. Got a price that I'm pretty happy with! I'll get some photos up once its all done!
