Problems with RNS510, MDI and iPhone 4

Hi all,

I have just had an MDI installed in my 2007 Passat with an RNS 510.

When using the iPod cable, I see the songs on the RNS 510 and can control the iPhone, but no sound is played.

The MDI plays sound fine from a USB stick.

Any ideas ?

I've ordered a new iPod cable to see if that is the problem.

You have prob tried this before but is the sound on you iPod turned up?

What Ipod do you have? If i remember correctly... not all are compatable. I know the nano doesn't Charge and so on...

My iPhone 4 works fine when hooked up to the MDI in my GTI... It just may be a faulty cable...

Using an iPhone 4.

Volume on iPhone is turned up. Hopefully it's just the cable !

I have heard now that there is a "9 pin plug" and an "11 pin plug" with the 11 pin plug only applying to 2010 models. Perhaps its a brand new MDI installed and therefore needs a different plug ?

I have this same problem on my 2010 Jetta 147TSI with the standard RCD510. You can control the iPod on screen but there is no sound. USB works fine. The iPod is a iPod Video 30GB (MA446X). The wifes iPhone 3GS 32GB works fine though. I am just about to update the firmware to see if that helps but as I picked up the car new last week I'd assume it already has the latest on it. Would love to figure this out as I am just about to get an iPhone 4 and would hate if it doesn't work!
