Vagcom Cable

Hey all,

just after some advice. Looking at buying an RNS510 and installing it myself. Have found out that I require a change of Can bus gateway, as I have a MY06 GTI, thus requiring a Vagcom cable to adapt.

My question is, will one of those cheap ebay ones do, as I will probably only use it one time?. Really can't justify spending so much $$$ on a Ross-tech cable for one use.

The cheap ones don't work with stuff much newer than mk4s I believe. I have a genuine cable so can't be 100%. If you have a look, there's a list on the forum, with cable owners and where they live. Maybe easier to sort someone out with a liquid payment??
