  • RNS510 - commences playing ipod music when starting car regardless of being paused

    Chaps

Am I doing something wrong or do your units do this. I have the RNS510 fitted with the Media In interface via which I connect my ipod. All sits nicely away.

However, I find that if I pause the ipod via the touch screen, and carry on driving, or if the music is playing when I turn the car off, regardless the music starts playing automatically when I come back to the car and turn it on. Its fairly loud (although I know I can change the startup volume), but given the system has to boot up, you basically are confronted with music playing when starting the car, which cannot be paused until the system fully boots.

Is this a setting thing, or is there no way around it? How come it does not remember the pause? And does this happen to other people with the same system?

    Thanks

The iturd is powered off and back on again when you turn off the car and turn it back on again. Call Steve Jobs and complain to him as Volkswagen can do absolutely nothing about the operation of an external product.

I'm not sure as to why you're complaining that the head unit has been designed to start playing music whilst it's starting up, most people would be thankful that Volkswagen were smart enough to design it this way. You may not be able to pause but you can use the volume knob on the head unit to lower the volume.

It shouldn't be that hard now you've determined what happens to press the STOP button instead of PAUSE or you could adjust the volume.

Sounds like a very trivial complaint, every car i've ever owned would start playing a cd on entering the car if it was playing one when you exit the car? And can you really remember exactly where it was up to in the song when you come back?

Why not just turn the head unit off or change the source to radio/CD etc.

Wow. I love this board. Everyone quick to jump down your throat when you ask a perfectly reasonable question.

At what stage did I complain? None. I merely asked if this is what the situation was, since in my previous car the ipod would automatically be paused until you pushed play. That's all. If this is different - fine. Obviously we are not allowed to ask questions for fear of criticising product.

And if I had a CD paused in a CD player in a previous car, then turned off the car, it would be paused when I turned it on the car back on. Hence it remembers the setting.

FFS people - no need to jump down my throat. A bloody simple simple question - NOT A COMPLAINT. Is that OK now?

No worries didnt mean you were complaining if you weren't . Just seems like there are a lot of fussy whingy people when it comes to these kind if threads.

It must just be the VW headunits that are 'always playing' then, but all cars operate differently. The alpine HU I had would also resume playback when I jumped back in the car but didn't try pausing it.

Thanks - not complaining at all, just making sure I had not missed anything in settings etc. Thanks for clarifying peeps...
