  • Alpine VW Golf Dash kits available

Just noticed something interesting in the Alpine winter catalog and though some poeple would find it useful. The catalogs lists a new product, VW 2-din dash kit (model number AFP-F291320-13).

This kit allows any VW vehicle using the same dash layout as the mk5/6 Golf the ability to replace the factory CD/dvd player with an aftermarket unit. The alpine kit is a oem fit rubberised kit so it maintains the premium look of the interior unlike a lot of other cheap plastic kits on the market and also includes the steel backets for mounting.

The retail on the kit is $129 and definiately worth it for the quality. I'll be ordering one soon, if anyone else is interested let me know and I can organise a group buy.

Side note, if you want to maintain steering wheel functionality with an aftermarket unit, I have access to the modules required.

I am trying to decide whether to swap out my head unit or not. What are the modules required to maintain steering wheel functionality? How much does that cost?

    Thanks

Being a CAN-BUS system it largely depends on the exact headunit you are wanting to install and what functions you would liketo work.

        Hey Skitz,

Just be aware that the kit is designed for IXA-W404, CDE-W203E and a model not sold here called INS-S900R (not available - UK only) none of which are likely candidates for a Golf upgrade.

If you want to install either the IXA-W407 or (likely) the IVA-W502Ev with the new Nav being released in a week or so, you would need to shave the inside of the kit (a quality installer wouldn't have a problem)
One of my Dealers installed one this morning and it looks and fits fantastically (but needs to be modded for the 502) OE finish and great colour match.
I'm looking into laser cutting costs to see if this is feasible and what finish is atainable so I'll keep you posted if you like as I have the kit(s) for my Golf and R36.
If you're an ALPINE dealer? then you know how to contact me anyway.
They fit factory into Golf V and Vi, Jetta, Passat 3c, CC, Scirocco (go on VW Aus, you know you want to!) Touran, Tiguan and Eos.

I'va also just received a genuine ALPINE to VW steering wheel interface so I'll be experimenting with it and then we'll make a decision whether to offer it in Australia.

        cheers

BTW - administrators, if this appears sales related then please delete as I don't want to contraven any forum rules. My intention is to offer information to ensure this product isn't purchased without knowledge of what it suits.

Thankyou for the clarification GHW, I wasn't aware modifications needed to be made to the facia for the 502. Should be a relatively easy task for any qualified Alpine installer.

          thanks

            Update for you Skitz

we've located the correct facia for the 502 so the earlier model facia will be replaced by the new one which will not require any modifications.
I have ordered several and will be the "guinea pig" before we sign them off, I'll let you know how it goes
