  • Bora sound upgrade and double din suggestions.

So im looking to upgrade the boras sound and once my kombi sells i should have around 2.5k budget im guessing at the moment. I'm thinking of getting a Nice double din headunit with most of the features but unsure of yet. Also reading through a previous thread it seems the stock speakers will do fine with a bit of amping so might do that aswell and save a bit on top quality speakers.

The head unit is the major question. Does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking of the Volkswagen one but it seems a bit pricey and a bit limited also unsure if it will fit easily either. Other alternatives are the apline AVIC-F20BT but again has a high price but as do most.

Main features im looking for in the headunit are:
    • Nice clean and easy to use menu
    • Nice screen preferably full size
    • OEM as possible
    • Video, DVD, TV would be nice but not necessary
    • NAV would be nice but not necessary but for this price and size makes sense to have it
    • Hard drive
    • Ipod/iphone connectivity
    • Touch screen would be nice

And with the amp does anyone have any suggestions for a nice 4 channel amp for the speakers.

    Thanks all

Hard drive is going to limit your options. Do you have an iPod? That is the best thing to have then it is easy to update as well.

Personally I would stick with the big brands, Pioneer and Alpine both have some very nice double DIN units with different options. I have an Alpine unit in mine and love it. The AVIC is a top unit and had I had a larger budget I would have gone for one of them, although I don't need sat nav so went for one without that.

Hard drive prefered but yes you right i should have put the ipod which is basically the same so thats the better option.

Yeah i agree should get better quality and support i suppose. I'm kinda leaning towards not having sat nav but alot of the better units with nicer menus and and touchscreens have sat nav.

Also is dynomatting the doors worth it on a bora?
