  • Can I upgrade my head unit from an RCD200 to an RCD510?

I have a 2009 Caravelle with an RCD200 head unit, and was wondering if the RCD510 would fit straight in?
I've done a LOT of googling and searching on forums, but have found nothing specific to this query, except for a potential battery drain problem.

    Cheers!

I'm pretty positive that the RCD 200 was the head unit fitted to to the Mark IV Golf, the Bora, Polo, Passat, Caddy, Lupo and Transporter along with the Caravelle.

However there is a newer version of the headunit that has CAN bus connected which is what you have. I'll have to check and see if I can find some further info as I'm not sure if the Caravelle is CAN bus 2 or earlier.

Might have to ask around but also look into the Zenec ZE-NC2040 as it is a new replacement for the RCD200 in the Golf/Polo/Passat/Touran models which came with an RCD200.

As Mav said, not 100% sure if it will fit though due to the CAN / double din / single din variables.

I have found an OEM headunit that looks like an exact physical match to the RCD200, and even has the 'removal key slots'.
It looks like an RNS510, but most of them have the rounded bezel, whereas this is square!

        Can anyone identify it?

Edit: Looks like it is an RNS510 to fit a Toureg...will this fit and connect?

That is an RNS 510 and I am fairly sure that it is physically larger than the RCD 200. I could check tonight...

This USA site looks like has some related useful info: http://askavwsalesguy.com/tag/rcd/
