I am hesitant to do it my self and don't have vagcom etc

I tried volkspower and they wont do it

do you need vag com to just install the rns510 on an otherwise stock non dynaudio unit in a mk6
this will put me off getting one.
I have no probs ripping the dash apart and installing one, have done many stereo instals and this one looks very easy

Sounds good, although I probably won't have mine early enough.

btw, has anyone seen or heard anything more regarding the new http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f78/...0-a-43531.html

i am up for the group install also.
the mk 6 dash looks easy to pull apart so happy to do this.
I just need to work out if i require a VAG COM or not, so doing some research on it now

From what I have found, The vagCom is required to activate NAV in the MFD in the instrument cluster. I think that's about it. Can anyone else confirm?
PS, the ebay units are Refurb'd ones.
I dont think that matters, at least you know something that was crook on them has been attended to.. or at least you hope.

Yes and other parts have to be coded as well.

Probably something like resetting the pin number by unsoldering an IC off the board and flashing some new code

OK, so even if I buy a new one, I still need to code it. Anyone have any info on where I can gain this insight as to what to do?

I picked up the RNS manual from VW spare parts and it was (I was surprised it was only) $23
