Look at Zenec for an aftermarket satnav/dvd unit.

I believe they recently released a unit that fits your car.

You get what you pay for.
Ebay knock-off ones have limited functionality and can drain the battery as there have been instances where they never really turn off, they just go into sleep mode.

Zenec unit has full functionality, readily upgradable sat nav (don't need to pay $1k per year to VWA) and it has built in bluetooth and ipod integration.

your choice but i know which one i would be going with.

As someone who owns a AVC-9000 unit for my Mk5, and was considering an AVC-9000.1 for my Bora, I can say you definitely get what you paid for. So whilst i am over the moon with the functionality i get from my AVC unit ($895 AUD + self fitment) it now has developed problems that aren't fixable or solvable by firmware or upgrades.

Now that auspack seems out of the picture, I think i'll be ponying up the extra dough and getting a Zenec or similar for the Bora. Trust me, if the ebay ones are any worse than the AVC units I'd steer well clear. The fitting is simplish but why waste your time. If you can afford it, go the Zenecs.

They use Igo8 maps from memory so you can update to australian maps.

See here for map updates and instructions:

I believe you can get legit map updates if you google igo8 and australian maps.
