Guys i have the volkstronic unit that i think is fitted to the Skodas and its FANTASTIC! Everyone keeps commenting on how clear it is. Not to mention it intergrates perfectly with the RNS 510 and the MFD!

I reckon it's nuts - why would you want ANOTHER screen of visual data, when the stereo that comes in the cars has capability to provide exactly that - dial pad, address book, incoming call details, etc - AND the MFD can also display all that information also??

That's the beauty of the Kufatec and Skoda units - they interface with existing systems that come already built in to the car, and don't add extra ugly 'bits' tacked on to your dashboard...

        Just my 2c.
TOTALLY AGREE...I had the Kufatec installed and its brilliant! People get in the car and are blown away at the intergration and how well it all works. At $995 installed it wasnt cheap but it works very well and has never failed me once in 6 months.

Okay, this I have to share. Have had the GTI for a month and it's fitted with the Fiscon bluetooth. I'm using an iPhone 3G. Trying to call somebody tonight from my iPhone 'Favourites' menu, hit the green call button ... and iTunes switches on to start playing a Blues Bros tune via the Bluetooth. (I didn't have it plugged in via MDI.) "That's odd," methinks, so I tried again. Sure enough, same thing happened. Didn't happen the third time. Gave me a good laugh, though - the guy I was calling bears a more than passing resemblance to John Belushi!

Yeah, I've had the exact same thing happen with mine, but it's only after I've checked a visual voicemail from the iPhone directly (playing thru my fiscon BT). At the end of my voicemail it just starts playing an iPod track thru the BT. Bizarre. First time it happened I thought my 510 was possessed, took me about 30 secs to work out what was going on.

Well, it happened again. Tried to call the wife to tell her I'm coming home, and Lady Ga-Ga comes on. Not sure what message the possessed phone and bluetooth are trying to tell me about my wife! (And BTW, doesn't seem to have anything to do with the voicemail for me - straight from my favourites menu.) It's only mildly annoying so far, but I suspect it will get old, fast.

Theres a reason why OEM is the best. May not have as many fancy things like boost pressure (that doesnt work on all cars) or sms, but works properly with all phones (including iphones).

without getting into the whole i-phone thing again.....I use the latest BlackBerry 9700. the Bluetooth is faultless in my experience with two different cars and two different kits. The reason i dont use an i-phone as i had issues when i was testing the reliability of the bluetooth and funny things as you described happening. As I work in the telco industry, i have the luxury of testing all handsets...in the end the BB has not failed once. My wife has an i-phone and loves it...so to each their own.

                    Cmon guys
                    quite simple really.
Fiscon has Rsap/bluetooth and will play through your speakers anything that would otherwise come out from the phones speakers.
With a phone call A2dp (sorry not rsap) is disabled and the telephone connection is enabled.
If you do not have any ipod function or video playing in the background on your phone it will not cut through and take precedence over your normal RNS510 selection.

I have found this useful for giving you AUDITORY speed camera alerts if you have the right phone app
rather than having to look at your screen

But should it do what they are describing above?

RSAP? I think you mean A2DP.... please dont confuse things any more than they already are...

opps sorry , yes i stand corrected -- meaning a2dp. ty

My understanding is that A2dp is entirely passive in these set ups.
When using the phone function it is different and not set up to alter any other functions on the mobile that is not directly related to making a phone call.
                          Just my intepretation.

Just read some of the newer units will also have AVRCP where you CAN change other non phone functions on your smart phone so maybe this is the cause depending on the newness of your unit. But then again you would have to be pressing buttons on the rns510 screen to cause a setting change in your phone.

Hey guys, i just bought this bluetooth today: S4 True Handsfree Voice Controlled Car Speakerphone - BlueAnt Wireless

I must say it is a cheaper option then the VW one. Bought it for $150 and it is totally touch free. When the phone rings it says "Home calling" or etc.
For iphone 3gs users you can say a voice command for the unit to dial someone.

I find it very good atm.

swallowtail...i know i have been a huge Black Berrt advocate but today i made the transition to the I-phone. Now my cocern has always been the bluetooth performance. The BB has been faultless and my trials with iphones not so great.

On the way home tonight i noticed that everytime an email lands, a calander appointment pops up or i unlock the key pad, it mutes the radio.
Are you able to shed any light on how i might be able to resolve these issues? I have the kufatec Fiscon.

                              Cheers

                                iphone and ipod can't multitask.
