Longer ipod MDI cable for iPad

I'm definitely getting an iPad and as i can kill the 60min drive to work playing games and reading internet. I will use the Mdi to charge and play tunes. Only problem is our Mdi is dealer fitted so its in the glove box and the cable is pretty
short.

Anyone picked up a longer Mdi iPod cable?

Say 1.5-2 meters ?

Pretty Sure it Illegal to use while driving.

Probably comes under the same ruling as a mobile phone. or a Laptop, or reading a book, or doing your makeup.

My wife drives to work so im in passenger seat for 60min every morning and considering the
iPad runs iPhone OS and has STD 30pin dock connector the MDI will sure
charge the iPad.

I would also assume it will work fine with 510 for MDI playback as well.

just ordered the longer cable so ill let you all know how it goes.

It will also be crazy seeing Tomtom run on it

Come on Apple hurry up and release the damn thing !

If all u want is charging, then why not just spend $4 on ebay for a car charger?

Im sure your wife will love having your games played thru the stereo while she drives...

Has anyone tried connecting an ipad to the mdi connector? Ive tried it and it was unable to recognize the device. Does anyone know how to make it work?
