Microphones for bluetooth - where ?

Here's something I'm curious about - if you get either of the standard or premium bluetooth systems for the Golf (in particular) - where is the microphone placed ?

I noticed in a GTI today at South Yarra Volkswagen that there were to speaker grill looking things near the sunroof control - are they for microphone capability or something entirely different ?

I'd be curious if I do get an aftermarket one where to place it and who could install it (is there anything else except for the Parrot system ?)

The OEM position for the microphone is the overhead console.
As you advised there is a grill / dotted section. That is for the microphone.
My microphone is in that location.
Others might put on the steering wheel area / A Pillar etc. No for me though!

The clarity is fine, I have never had anyone advise that they could not hear me.

Does that capability exist in every car (even a base 90TSI jumped up to Comfortline) ? I must admit I haven't looked that closely

Yes, that is the only location where the factory bluetooth microphone is to be installed.
