  • ipod/mp3 connection - mkIV gti 2003

hi all, this seems to be quite a common question with out a common answer, and would be awesome if so one knows a solution. i Have a 2003 mkIV GTI with the single din eurovox stereo (VW re-badged it i believe). is it possible to connect (hardwire) a 3.5mm jack so as to plug in a mp3 player or phone?? i would love to keep the stock stereo if possible, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

hey im just looking at doing the same thing, and i think about the only option is to buy an adapter cable that goes from the CD stacker port in the back of the Head unit, to a 3.5mm jack etc... found some on ebay for about $70 or so from memory, but at that price im wondering if i wouldnt just be better off with a new head unit.

Kind of yes. But the ones in the link below give more controls with the stereo, through the cd changer control lines. I think there are local importers for all of those brands and you'll need to double check which head unit you have but they all do a model for the MkIV Golf.

      Cheers,
