Radio differences

Hi guys,

What are the differences between the radios installed? I have a Golf GTI 2007..

I am looking to find out what type of radio i have, as in, what model.. if anyone has a link or could post the different types with their specs and include a picture that would be awesome!

I haven't picked up my car yet as its still being serviced and detailed.

I know its definately not a doubledin setup. I am not sure if its the single disc or the stacker

GTI comes with a double din RCD 500 with 6 disc internal stacker. The 2007 will be non MP3 compatible.

Finally picked up my MY07 Golf GTI and noticed a couple of things.

1 - I have the standard in-dash 6 stacker, non MP3 cd-player.
2 - Its got the half screen MFD. Can this be changed to the full screen type?


Is there anywhere i can pickup one of the proper VW cd players with mp3 compatiability.. other than a dealer? Or, does anyone know the price of one from a dealer?

And secondly, how expensive is it to change the MFD to full screen.. i assume you need to change the whole dash cluster?

1. You have a RCD 500 head unit.
2. Yes but it's not really viable, you're looking at over $1000.

This forum, the golfmkv forum or ebay will see you pick up a RCD 500 MP3 head unit for under $200.
