  • New headunit, need your opinion?

    Hi all,

this morning I received my Pioneer AVIC HD3. Now I know there are plenty of shops that can install them.

The ones that came to my mind are: JB HIFI, Autobarn, Repco.

can anyone here suggest a great place (that actually know quite a bit about pioneer system)?? im in sydney

Also I notice to take out the stock headunit, i need 4 keys from ebay? I know that my friend asked VW to do it and cost him $60
    any input greatly appreciated!

    thanks,
    Leon

this is really one area you do get what you pay for. I WOULD NEVER EVER trust any franchise like autobahn/jb etc to do work on any car I own

They installed a new headunit in my Tiguan and IMO they are brilliant. I watched them do it and was very happy with how well they treated the vehicles panels etc when removing and replacing them.

As for price, I feel they were great value for money. I asked for a quote, they gave me a range of possible hours the job would take (justifying why it might take longer), then ended up charging me the lower end of the range in spite of the fact that they spent closer to the top end of the range time-wise.

It's not often in this day and age that you can find someone that doesn't try to rip you off, so I give these guys the kudo's they deserve.

FHRX can also offer advice on what to install. I'll add my voice to the growing support for them - they know their stuff, they treat customer cars with a great deal of respect. They'll be the only ones to touch anything related to car audio in my Bora.
