I know that both Schneider and Option Audio produce the units, whether or not they will fit is another story. You should either email them or see an installer for more detailed information.
Got mine booked in for Headrest DVD install next weekend..... I'll let you know how it goes and post some pics for ya....
thanks... will be interesting to see what you get and how it all fits in.
been to a few websites and general spots like autobarn and strathfield but they want about $800 PER screen - and they wont fit in the original headrest.
cheapest is about $600 for full system with 2 screens incl dvd player and wireless headphones.

Volkswagen offer this as an option overseas called the rear seat entertainment system. I plan to connect this to the RNS 510 on my Golf as it allows you to play a DVD back on the rear screens with audio whilst you listen to music up front (haven't tested it but it has been done in Europe).
The headrests you should be able to purchase as many are similar across the models especially the Jetta ones, the GTI ones may be a problem where you have to use the normal headrests innards and have the GTI's leather and extra padding added to it. And they're less than $800 for the OEM ones.
it will also be interesting to see what impact the new laws regarding in car entertainment will have on this industry.
What new laws? It's already illegal for the driver to watch a screen that isn't outputting car related information (sat nav, media, phone etc) so I fail to see how they could have tightened this up.
someone at work printed out a copy of them.... will have a look tomorrow and see if i can dig them up....
it refers to dvd, satnav and mobile phone usage in cars.

"Visual display units
A driver must not drive a vehicle that has a television receiver or a visual display unit operating if any part of the screen is visible to the driver or is likely to distract another driver."
last part is a bit open to interpretation...... but guess if you can see the screen from another vehicle then you could claim it is distracting.

Hi guys, they ARE kidding with this vague sounding rule aren't they? What if Kylie Minogue drove past me topless, and I don't mean with her EOS roof down... would that be distracting too? Gee there's about 3000 distractions when driving and they choose something like this.
IMO I would fit the DVD and let them pull me over, until then the kids will be quiet and my wife and I happy!
I have had a 10.5" roof mounted DVD in my other car for the kids to use in the back seat, for years. This is the first I have heard of anything like this.
Q. Is it specifically VIC only?
2010 Candy White TDI Auto, black leather, bi-Xenons + fogs, DVD plus other gadgets and gizmos to keep the kids quiet!
I thought it was illegal already. I was planning to buy them 3 years ago, but one website took it off due to the legal issue (distracting other drivers).
