  • RNS510 Digital??

Hi Guys, Digital radio has started here (finally). My understanding is the RNS510 is digital. Is this correct?? If so, why dosen't it display the "text info" etc? If it is not digital, why not, becuase Europe has had it for years and most cars have it as standard equipment. Does anyone have any info?

Europe uses DBS - Digital Broadcasting Services. Australia will use DBS+, which is an evolution but not backwards compatible, and since the Australian market is fairly small, I doubt there'll be much done to create devices to retrofit DBS to DBS+ on cars.

For the traffic info (TP and TIM), it depends on whether the broadcast channel is actually transmitting anything.

      DBS+ or DAB+? I thought it was DAB+.

You might want to read this thread in the Tiguan section where clip gave a good answer: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=31775

From the research I did this is what I found: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...26&postcount=6

      Hope that helps!

Yup, my mistake, DAB+... thought DBS didn't sound right, but I'll blame it on work, pregnant wife, etc....
